Our Commitment

The Student Wellness Program is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards to make sure our services are inclusive and accessible.

Conformance Status

We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

Measures We Take

The Student Wellness Program takes the following measures to ensure accessibility:

  • Color contrast ratios that meet or exceed WCAG AAA standards (7:1 for normal text, 4.5:1 for large text)
  • Keyboard navigation support throughout the entire website
  • Screen reader compatibility with proper ARIA labels and semantic HTML
  • A visible "Skip to main content" link for keyboard users
  • Reduced motion support for users who prefer minimal animation
  • Clear, descriptive link text and form labels
  • Proper heading hierarchy (h1 through h6) for document structure
  • Alternative text for all informational images
  • Focus indicators that are clearly visible on all interactive elements
  • Responsive design that works across screen sizes and zoom levels up to 200%

Compatibility

This website is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • Screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack)
  • Screen magnification software
  • Speech recognition software
  • Keyboard-only navigation

Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, some third-party content may not be fully accessible:

  • Calendly scheduling widget — we rely on Calendly's own accessibility efforts for their embedded booking tool
  • Google Maps embed — the embedded map on our contact page is provided by Google and may have its own accessibility limitations
